About the Plant

The Citrus aurantium amara plant, also known as bitter orange or Seville orange, is a small tree that belongs to the Rutaceae family. It is native to Southeast Asia but is now widely cultivated in many parts of the world, including Tunisia, where our Orange Blossom/Neroli Hydrolate is sourced.

The bitter orange tree can grow up to 10 meters tall and has glossy green leaves, white flowers, and bitter-tasting fruits that resemble oranges but are smaller and more acidic. The flowers of the bitter orange tree are particularly valued for their sweet, floral fragrance and are commonly used to make essential oils, hydrolates, and perfumes.
The Citrus aurantium amara plant has a long history of use in traditional medicine for its various health benefits. Its leaves, flowers, and fruits are believed to have anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antioxidant properties, and are used to treat digestive disorders, anxiety, and insomnia.
At our certified organic farm in Tunisia, we take great care in cultivating and harvesting the Citrus aurantium amara plant to ensure the purity and quality of our Orange Blossom Hydrolate. Our commitment to sustainable farming practices and organic certification ensures that our product is not only beneficial to your skin and mood but also to the environment and local communities.

Delicate Robustness

This hydrolate was a surprise. I didn't quite know what to expect and have been captivated by the delicate scent but powerful effects. It can shift my mood right away when I apply it. I use several mists of it every morning to empower me for the rest of the day. The scent is subtle but penetrates the senses. It was a bargain, much less expensive than the oil would be, and it was on sale. So it's a win, for sure.
